What’s new, right in the notice

The desktop app downloads updates on its own while you play. Until now the notice in the corner only said “Downloading” and, a few minutes later, “ready”. To find out what had changed, you had to restart first.

Both notices now have a What’s new link. It opens the notes for that exact version here on the site.

The two update notices in Albion Meter 0.1.15
Left: while the update downloads. Right: when it is ready to install.

In the middle of a dungeon, click Later. The meter keeps recording and installs the update when you close it. Restart and update installs right away, but it ends the current record.

Weapon family on the player card

In Player focus there is a small tag under the weapon name with the weapon family. Until this version it said “unknown” for everyone. The family now comes from the game’s own item list.

Player focus card before and after the update
Adept’s Ironroot Staff now shows Nature Staff.

On the Portuguese site the tag is translated: Nature Staff becomes Cajado da Natureza, War Gloves become Luvas de Guerra. Sessions shared before the update still have “unknown” saved in them, so on those pages the tag is simply hidden.

Checking the file you downloaded

Every release comes with a SHA256SUMS.txt file. If the hash of your file is the same as the one in that list, you have exactly the file we published.

On Windows, open PowerShell in the folder where you saved the installer:

PS> Get-FileHash .\AlbionMeter-Setup-0.1.15.exe -Algorithm SHA256

Algorithm Hash
--------- ----
SHA256 4187C9421D4CED6A36CCF74A882123B767406DF7CCFE36708944D4EFC11DD64A

On Linux, download SHA256SUMS.txt to the same folder and run:

$ sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS.txt --ignore-missing
AlbionMeter-0.1.15-linux-x86_64.AppImage: OK

If the hash doesn’t match, don’t open the file. Download it again from this site.

Older versions

Every version since 0.1.0 is on the GitHub releases page, each with its own SHA256SUMS.txt, and the changelog lists them with their notes. From 0.1.6 on there are desktop installers. Before that, only the zip and tar.gz packages.

Do I have to do anything?

If you use the desktop app, no. It checks for updates when it opens and every 6 hours after that. If you still run the old zip or tar.gz package, get the installer from the download section once and you won’t need to do this by hand again.
